New Hair! Thanks, Glamazon!

For ages now, I've been lamenting the chaos that is my undercut and the general mess that was my hair. Well, this past weekend I decided to do something about it!

I've researched so many options, including extensions (expensive), shaving it all off (in the middle of winter? Not a good idea), and just growing it out (this requires patience that I don't have). So a bit of a crop was what I ended up wanting to do.

I had been planning on it for weeks, actually. But the thought of having to go into the city just for a hair cut just seemed too much trouble. From my experience with the older boys, the hair stylists in my area just don't know how to cut Asian hair, so it was important to me to find someone with experience with hair like mine. In a nutshell: fine hair with absolutely zero volume *lol*

As luck would have it, I happened to be watching Shark Tank one night and the founders of the Glamazon App appeared on that particular episode. I was so excited by the concept of being able to get a stylist to come to me, that I downloaded the app immediately! Apparently I wasn't the only one with the same bright idea, because the app crashed. But it's okay, I got an e-mail from the Glamazon team telling me I could still book appointments using their website.

Which is exactly what I did...nearly a week later, hahaha. On Friday, I tried booking Kasie (the stylist I had chosen) for Saturday. Not long after I placed the booking, I got a call from Lauren at Glamazon telling me Kasie wouldn't be available then. An actual phone call with a real life person! She phoned me a couple of more times after that to try and sort something out. She even went so far as seeing if another stylist would be available, keeping in mind that I wanted someone with a very specific skill set.

In the end, Saturday just wouldn't happen. So I changed my plans around (it was a very busy weekend), and managed to squeeze in an appointment with Kasie on a Sunday. So I went ahead and booked her...for Saturday...again. FAIL. So I got another call from Lauren, who at this point I've decided has the patience of a saint, and I told her it was a mistake. She helped cancel the booking so I could then book Kasie for Sunday.

I am SUPER impressed with the customer service at Glamazon, which is why I'm mentioning them at all here (they are not a client or sponsor at all - I paid for the hair cut, etc etc).

If you live in Australia, a busy mum or someone who would just rather have their haircut, hair colour, massage, mani-pedis etc done at home, please look into Glamazon! The prices for their services are comparable to going to a salon or spa yourself. For me, the cost was essentially the same when factoring in travel expenses and time. It was a no-brainer to get my hair done at home, and I am definitely planning on using Glamazon in the future for other services too.

If you do get a hair cut at home, keep in mind that after a hair cut, you'll have to clean up all the hair on the floor. So do like I did - do it at a room that's easy to sweep and vacuum afterwards. No carpets!

Kasie, my hair stylist, was amazing. She was so warm and friendly, and we had a good time chatting with our kids as she went about cutting my hair. As you can see, she did a great job on my hair!!! I love that I can style it several different ways too!

I never regret cutting my hair short, and this time's no different. Frankly, the only regret I have is not doing it sooner!
